I took this shot with my phone on reverse. My kiddos were sitting with friends behind me. It reminded me of how we used to use our mirrors to spy on people behind us. I caught the sweetest moment. Jboy was giving his friend {aka future wife} a mint. We love going to church with our friends.

Dear Extraordinary Girl,

As the year draws to a close, beautiful friend, please remember that you get to decide what heads into the next year with you and what doesn't. It would be worth some of your beautiful minutes to sit down and really think about the baggage that you have been carrying around that you just don't need anymore....and then decide that it is not invited to come with you into the next year...and that it will no longer be a part of how you view yourself, your possibilities, your commitments, the way you spend your time, and what you have to give in the world.

We often are taught to collect, collect, collect, gather, gather, gather, hoard, hoard, hoard...that we never even consider the possibility of starting over with a clean emotional slate by letting EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF BRAIN BAGGAGE GO and starting over with fresh hope, fresh faith, an open mind and endless possibilities. Some things that would be wonderful to leave behind are shame, blame, specific expectations, outdated beliefs, outdated identities and a scarcity mentality. It would be wonderful to let go of grudges, fears and beliefs that make us feel stuck.
When we decide to spend our time on loving others, and feeling loved...there is no room or time for feeling angry or for being worried about unkind things others may think of us. When we decide to spend our time working towards the life that our heart is yearning for....there is no room or time to think about things from the past that have been holding us back.

So please decide, amazing girl.......YOU GET TO DECIDE!!! Decide what you will focus on, what you will think about, where you will spend your time and how you will think about everything and everyone around you. This could be the best year of your life! Make it so.
You are so very very very loved....and filled with endless possibilities!

Or so I thought. My auto-renew did not auto anything, but an email message telling me to renew my domain.
It took me 8 days to sort out.

My oldest son is going to be a NFL player.
Yes, for career day, he wanted to wear an NFL jersey complete w/pads & pants?!
Thankfully he made straight A's last year & has a sweet heart.
He has followed Tim Tebow's career since Florida.
He loved to see what scripture Tim would have on his eye black stickers on gameday.
So when our son's team made it to the play offs he was ready to get his eye black stickers.
I am so proud of my boy. Not because he's a fierce competitor, but because he wants to show his faith out of the field.

For this game, Jman wanted to wear Philippians 4:13. It was the first scripture he ever memorized.

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!"

He had a tough loss. It gave us another avenue to talk about this verse & how it important on & off the field.

My first baby girl is 7 years old today. When she came to us she was the most precious bundle of joy. She seemed to immediately understand that she was going to have to hold her own with two older brothers in her life. our family has gone through some major struggles over the last 2 years.

I often wondered if we would make it.

While I saw blessings all along,

I also saw consequences of our actions.

I know in my heart there were major lessons being taught.

I am so thankful for open hearts, humble spirits & discipline.

Yes I said, discipline, ugh.

It is so hard at times,

however it is awesome to see

a beautiful life being formed.

the parents were cheering

Christians Hurting Christians Part Duex

After I wrote last week God gave me two messages with the same meaning.

Hosea

Part of me is crying out...WHY?!? I don't really want to hear these messages because now I'm accountable.

Part of me is thankful He loves me enough to speak to me so clearly.

Please hear me when I say, I have hurt Christians & I am truly sorry for what I have done. I hate that I brought pain to anyone; Christian, Atheist, Buddhist or "Other". I still have a lot to learn in life. I don't want to be "that" person. The one who hurts others & goes on not recognizing the pain I caused. But there comes a point where real change has to happen; struggling, striving, growing believer trying to pull down my strongholds.

So that leads to 70x7 & Hosea...

A worship song last Sunday was, 70x7. I wish that I had our worship leader on video performing the song.
This version is not my favorite, but it gives you the opportunity to hear the lyrics.

If someone needs forgiveness,

This song is a great reminder!

Sunday's message was from Hosea. God never stops loving us, no matter what we do, even if we turn our back on Him. God expects the same depth of love for us. How are you treating others?
He asked Hosea to forgive his wife who went into prostitution & left him. Chapter 1 made it clear that Hosea was to forgive after she left him & the kids & was engaged in adultery. So she didn't come to him & ask for forgiveness.
God is calling us to do the same thing. He wants us to forgive, repent, to bring restoration & blessing.
Forgiveness as God forgives requires sacrifice. {Col 3:13}
Ugh.
Praying & working towards being Hosea.

Thankful for these messages. Thankful for His 70x7. Just thankful.

Christians Hurting Christians

I am shocked, surprised, taken back by people who use God in the same sentence with judgement. You know this kind of statement, "God is so good & insert name here deserves all the crap in life because they are sinners."

Right.
Let me get this straight...you are a "better" Christian than me?
Ok, maybe, but if you feel the need to discuss this in a group or even with one friend maybe you need to check yourself. This has happened to me this year. In my small community there was much talk about a mom's group with my name thrown around. Ugh.
I realize that we are all human & walking around wounded. There are just so many in the body of Christ who have been hurt by other believers. I know I have been guilty of hurting some. I hate it. I do not want to be that person who betrays others.
Understand, this is no mistake. These women meant to say those words. They meant to bring me down. And I will never be the same. In the tearing me down via the non-profit, faith based moms group they hurt the entire group in our community.

Here's what I know...
I have a choice.
To suffer with this for the rest of my life. Not go back to any church. Lick my wounds & be possessed for the rest of your life by the pain. And then allow the pain becomes bitterness.

Do you know anyone like that? Or is that your story? Are you the victim of a wound inflicted by someone you love? A victim? It does not have to be. Just look at Joseph. He forgave his brothers for betrayal.

Trust me, I am no Joseph. I am making the choice to trust God, forgive & move on. These women have not asked for my forgiveness. Doubt they ever will. That's not the point.
"It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel. The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains. But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice" - Philippians 1:15-18
While I am still trying to rejoice. I trust there is a bigger plan that I don't see & our best interest is at heart.
The point to this is not the yucky stuff. The point is, we all have choices in life. It's up to us how we act & how we react. Like Phil 1:15-18 says..."But what does it matter?"
Moving on.

We have two boys playing competitive ball. It's been a busy summer. Our 2011 season has come to a close. With the summer temps I am happy it is finished, however I will miss watching them play.
Both boys played in World Series Tournaments. It was very exciting.
Our youngest, Ya-Ya, had an awesome week!

The umpires of each World Series nominate players from each position for an All Star or All Tournament Team.

Ya-Ya was nominated for 2nd base. He was 7 at the time the series started. His team was one of the youngest playing. The umps vote on the player that they see as most deserving throughout the series.

Ya-Ya won for 2nd base, we were just a little surprised?! A few of the umps talked to him after the medal ceremony. They told him he played as well as some high school players they umped?! All of them said he was a tough, lil' competitor. They encouraged him to keep playing, make good grades & stay out of trouble :) We are so proud of him!

It's my baby boy's birthday! I can't believe he is 8 today?! My how time flies. Here's what I love about my Ya Ya! His Big Blue Eyes, freckles & big ears. Yes I said his big ears. I love watching him play with his brother & sisters & friends. He is such a neat person. I love how fierce he is on the baseball & football field. He is seriously FIERCE! He has a great personality even his lil' anger thing is cute! I pray he always knows that he is uniquely & wonderfully made : )

My Sister, Mom of the Year Loser

I just want to be real here.
I love the blogs where everything is perfect & pretty.

That's not me.
Some days are just messy.
Recently I was highlighted as Mom on the Move by 918Moms.com.
My sister reminded me that she has some stories for my "mom on the move" highlight reel - just to be sure I'm staying humble. LOL.

I am going to let her guest post with me today. I'm little scared as to what she's gonna say ya'll?!
My sister's comments will be in orange.
Here's 5 reasons as to why I'm not winning Mom of the Year 2011...

1. I can't remember my own children's names.
"I love it that my sister named all her kiddos with not only the same letter, but they all sound very similar. So when she gets upset & starts to yell their names she get's a lil' confused & stammers." - Six Sister

It's true. One reason we have nick names for all of them - who can keep it straight?! Don't even ask me their b-days.

2. My House is a Mess.
"I can't say anything on this one. My house is a wreck?!" - Six Sister

It's sad. I'm a horrible house keeper. I keep it picked up, just don't eat off my floor please. Listen, I see other things as priority right now & a housekeeper is not in the budget.

3. Bubba & I are like fire & gasoline.
"She makes it sound all glamorous like a country song. They love each other don't get me wrong. They just bicker. I call them them the Bickerson's. Bicker like cats & dogs on a rainy night. Wait. Now I sound like a country song?!" - Six Sister

If you have read my blog for any length of time you know that we are the Bickerson's. We tend to bicker. It's silly really. We are reading Love & Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs. It has helped us on our journey.

4. I brought more Lunchables up to school this year then I care to count.
"I don't know what's she's thinking. One, PBJ's are cheaper & better. Two, in my house, Lunchables would have made her a hero." - Six Sister

I just couldn't get the lunch thing together this year. I had two who refused to eat cafeteria food & one who wanted to study the menu & pick days to bring lunch. I am sure the office ladies thought we were nuts!

5. My kids had a million & one tardies this year.
"My sister inherited the late gene from our father's side of the family. It's not her fault really. Throw that gene in with 4 kiddos under the age of 10 & it's nearly impossible to get to school on time!" - Six Sister

No comment. It wasn't exactly a million & one. It was quite a few however. Oh stop with the judging looks ladies!!!

Here's a bonus reason we just threw in for kicks...
I dress my kids in matching outfits.
"The first few YEARS she did this it was cute. Now that the j's are not babies the family is starting to question. We allow this behavior because we know it keeps baby fever down." - Six Sister

I can go a little crazy with the matchy-matchy. My Grandmother assists me in this activity by making dresses, shorts, ect. I'm moving on to monochromatic color schemes :)

"Bottom line - my sister shouldn't win mom of the year because if she did it would be fake. She should win best REAL mom of the year. So she yells a little & runs late. She loves her lil' crew & would throw herself in front of a train for her family. She does her best & even though she messes up she gets back up & keeps trying. No one is perfect, not even close. My sister has given more hugs, cleaned more boo-boos, answered more questions & smiled at the craziness that comes only with being a mom of 4 young kiddos more times than I can count. I think she's a great mom." - Six Sister

I'm going to keep it real here... I'm not perfect. Not by a long shot. I have raised my voice too much lost my temper too often over inconsequential things & pitched a few fits that put my 4 yr old's tantrums to shame.My children & family give me a small glimpse of the grace of my Heavenly Father. I mess up ~~daily~~ a lot & yet they always forgive me & love me anyway. I thank God for that.

Thanks to my ~~only~~ favorite sister for her idea for this post & her guest post. Did I mention she is single & cute? If you have a single, cute, financially secure man let me know :)

I can't claim to be a huge Oprah fan. Ten years ago I was a huge fan. I taped her show - yes I said taped - it was a long, long time ago. I had a subscription to her magazine. As my life changed, with marriage & children, Oprah did not provide a lot of value to my life. I found more value in my Bible Studies & Parent magazine.
I only watched her show if someone told me I should check it out or her advertising caught me eye.
I did however tune in for her last show. I really enjoyed it. Here are some things I drew from her last Oprah Show...

Hello. Love this one. So many times I place unfair, unrealistic expectations on my husband or my father. God is the only one to rescue us, however we have a responsibility in that rescue.

Sharing some wonderful reminders from Beth Moore's 2008 simulcast. I highly recommend picking the DVD. She taught out of Luke 8:1-16. How God uses her to teach a fresh word from a parable some of us have heard a few times just blesses my flip flops off!?

Royal Wedding - Just Kiss It

While watching the Royal Wedding at 4am my mind wandered to my wedding & my children's future weddings. As I ooh & aahhed over the romance of it all I compared my family to the Royal Family.
Here are the 5 Things I learned from the Royal Wedding:

1. Don't let the Noise get to You.

Notice the 3 yr old bridesmaid in the left hand corner of the pic. She was miserable while everyone else around her was having a great time. Are you allowing the negativity of those around you to crowd out your joy? Joy is happiness regardless of circumstances. Take time refresh or rethink your those people or things that are stressing you. What steps can you do to change. No one wants to be with the unhappy bridesmaid.

2. Don't Let them See Your Dress.

Are you keeping excitement in your marriage? In your family? The waiting to see Princess Kate's dress almost brought the crowd to a frenzy. Would it be as incredible as they imagined? What designer did she choose? Would she choose a long train? Oh how this dress symbolizes the potential we have to knock our spouse's proverbial socks off. How are you showing your family how exciting folding that laundry can really be if you put a lil' fun into it? Ok maybe laundry wasn't the best example, but seriously, making the mundane family routines fun will be laughter to your family.

3. Deliver the Goods Royally.

The dress reveal was not a tease. Princess Kate & Prince William delivered. The dress was a knock out. The wedding was a 15 on a scale of 1-10. Not only was it aesthetically pleasing it went off only 5 mins off schedule and without a hitch. Well at least none the commoners could see. How do you deliver the goods? Do you have a family schedule that is posted or everyone understands? Are there routines that you follow so that everyone knows what happens next? Are you able to give that one, knock out dinner once a week? Hey - one awesome home cooked meal is better than 4 badly prepared meals.

4. Surround Yourself with Royalty.

Ok so maybe we don't have access to the royals. We do have access to quality friends & family. The Royal Wedding did not plan itself, nor did Prince William & Princess Kate plan the event themselves. They surrounded themselves with an excellent team & so should we. Who are you seeking for family advice? Who are you surrounding yourself & your family with in life? Be sure they have your best interest at heart.

5. Give them Two Kisses.

If you blinked you may have missed the first royal kiss between Prince William & Princess Kate. How many times have we done this in our family? We say, "ok bye, have a good day!" with a quick peck on the cheek. Or we don't try to kiss at all, we just say, "bye" because we are rushing out the door. Notice after the first kiss how the crowd wanted another? Take a cue & give your spouse, kids & family a 2nd kiss plus a hug! It's never too late to show them you love them very much. That 2nd kiss won our hearts. Win the hearts of your family today.
